Keitt Mango

The first Keitt Mango Tree was grown in the Homestead, Florida yard of Mrs. J. N. Keitt (pronounced “keet”) in 1939. The Keitt Mango Tree was originally Keitt thought to be a seedling from a Mulgoba Mango, but later studies have indicated that the variety is more likely the seedling from a Brooks Mango. In either case, the large fruits are green with red blush, grow to 7-inches long, and can weigh as much as 3 pounds each.
Keitt Mango Trees grow to mature sizes of about 20 feet tall and 12 to 15 feet wide. They can be grown in the ground in USDA Zones 9 to 11, or in a pots within Zones 4 to 11. Keitt Mango Trees like well drained, slightly acidic soil, frequent deep watering, and a steady diet of fruit tree fertilizer. They are self-fertile but when paired with other late-season mangoes will produce even larger yields.

The Famous "Little Cado" Patio Dwarf

Valued for its dark-green fruit, the Wurtz avocado tree (Persea americana "Wurtz") will provide your home with an abundance of fresh avocados while enhancing the landscape with its evergreen foliage. This dwarf variety of avocado requires only 10 to 15 feet of vertical space. Wurtz avocado grows best in full sunlight and loose, fast-draining, sandy-loam soil.
Sometimes referred to as Little Cado, is the only true dwarf variety of avocado and will consistently produce good fruit from May to September. A Wurtz avocado tree grows to about 10 feet. Due to its small size, the Wurtz avocado tree can be grown in a large container (such as a half wine barrel) and is a good option for smaller front and back yards. The Wurtz avocado is a hybrid created from the Mexican and Guatemalan avocado species and produces abundant fruits within one to two years of planting.
